Privacy Policy

Who we are

Vael Size Visualizer (“Vael”, “we”, “our”) is a Shopify app operated by Vael Lifestyle Inc. We can be reached at chris@vaelcreative.com.

What data we collect

When a Shopify merchant installs Vael, we receive and store the following from Shopify on the merchant’s behalf:

• Shop identifier and access token — used to authenticate API calls back to Shopify.
• Product metadata — title, description, tags, product type, vendor, category, collection memberships, and variant options (including size names). Used to detect which sizes to generate.
• Product images — URLs and dimensions of the images on each product detail page. Used as source material for AI variant generation.
• Shop settings the merchant configures — catalog scope (men’s / women’s), per-size model picks, automation preferences.
• Modal analytics — anonymous session identifiers, modal-open events, and size-view events. We do not collect or link to any individual shopper’s identity.

We do not collect shopper personally identifiable information. No names, emails, addresses, payment details, or order data ever reach Vael systems.

How we use it

• Generate AI size variants. Product images are sent to Google Gemini for image generation, and the resulting variants are stored in Firebase Storage and exposed back to the merchant’s storefront.
• Display the size visualizer modal to shoppers on the merchant’s product detail pages.
• Provide analytics to the merchant about modal engagement (open rate, size-view distribution).
• Bill the merchant via Shopify’s Billing API for active subscriptions.

Where data goes

• Google Gemini — for AI image generation. Subject to Google’s privacy policy.
• Firebase Storage (Google) — for hosting the generated variant images.
• Supabase — for the application database (settings, generated variant references, anonymous analytics).
• Vercel — for hosting and running the application.

We do not sell, rent, or share merchant data with third parties for marketing.

Data retention

We retain merchant data for as long as the app remains installed. When a merchant uninstalls Vael, Shopify fires a shop/redact webhook (typically within 48 hours), at which point we permanently delete all settings, generated variants, analytics events, and authentication data for that shop.

Merchants can also request earlier deletion by emailing chris@vaelcreative.com.

GDPR compliance

We implement Shopify’s mandatory privacy compliance webhooks:

• customers/data_request — acknowledges Shopify-routed data access requests. Vael holds no shopper-identifiable data, so no per-shopper payload is returned.
• customers/redact — acknowledges Shopify-routed customer erasure requests. Same reason: no shopper-identifiable data to delete.
• shop/redact — permanently deletes all merchant data on shop uninstallation.

Your rights

Merchants have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about their shop.
• Request correction or deletion at any time.
• Withdraw consent by uninstalling the app, which triggers automatic deletion.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our data practices change. Material changes are also surfaced inside the app via a banner so merchants don’t miss them.
